Plot Bunny #479743: Reincarnation fic about Will and old man Simmons, where what happens in each life is that Simmons tries to catch him but Will always escapes. Simmons will never catch Will despite his neverending efforts, but we must assume Sisyphus is happy. Will is like the Road Runner to Simmons's Coyote. The Peter Pan to Simmons's Hook? The Jerry to his Tom? It is a little tragic and a little absurd, but in a way it is all either of them really need. It is perhaps not a hunt, but a ritual. Maybe in one life, Will and Simmons can be allowed a moment to meet over coffee or whatever, but in the end the chase must continue, as it always has before. Yessss. VID REC TIME, because I've watched this next one four times now and it fills me with feeeeeeeelings every time, holy shit. Waking World - It's about Morgana and Gwen and the men they loved who failed them. This vid is incredibly well-constructed. Meticulous attention to detail for maximum levels of verklempt! I WAS ALL LIKE, "Uther & Morganaaaaaa D: D:" and like "OMG MORGANA" then like "Arthur Gwen Lancelot D: D:" and like "GWEN OMG" then like " GWEN OMG" and then I was all "HOLY SHIT, LADIIIIIIES" and then THE ENDING HAPPENED and I am like <3333 :-O :-O <33333345. It breaks your heart then sets you freeee. Despite itself, the vid has put me in the mood for gritty Arthur/Morgana and tragic Arthur/Gwen/Lancelot. Hmm. By the same vidder, there is If You Were Gay, which is that song from 'Avenue Q'. Vidding Merlin and Arthur to this is perfect and hilarious (omg the VOICES and the FACES) and oh how I giggled. Title: Between Here and Now and Forever Rating: PG Characters: All four Hogwarts founders, numerous major and minor original characters, and Helena Ravenclaw. Genre: Humor/Drama/Adventure Summary: All Godric wanted was a quiet life of scholarship, ideally one that didn't involve starving to death. So when two old friends (well, acquaintances, really) showed up and offered him a teaching job, he took it with few reservations, not realizing how extensively he was involving himself in international magical politics. Length: Long. (FF.N says 49,550 words.) WIP. Pairings are present, but firmly in the background; there is established Helga Hufflepuff/OMC, and past Rowena Ravenclaw/OMC(s). May eventually contain romance subplots. The first chapter is here. I have just posted chapter 11, and, showing a startling amount of organization, have scraped together a master Founders post, which contains links to everything Foundersy I have ever done. So my anthropology final is going to be about fanfiction as a platform for the expression of subaltern rhetoric (specifically, pro-LGBT and pro-women rhetoric), and I'll be using Merlin and Narnia fandoms as case studies. Basically, my essay is about: YOU GUYS. I have a 4-page outline for 20-ish (15-ish?) pages and it's due on Tuesday omg. It was such a trip making this outline. I was writing about The Last Battle, and my gut instinct was to warn for spoilers. Spoilers! Warning for spoilers in an academic essay: I WON'T DO IT, but it feels wrong not to anyway! I'm probably going to compile stats & figures from LJ comms, fic archives, and kinkme_merlin (OMG I'M GONNA TALK ABOUT KINKME_MERLIN IN AN ACADEMIC PAPER) to support my claim that, what, people are into slash. Maybe I'll even make a table of it and put it in the appendix?!? MAYBE I'LL MAKE PIE CHARTS D: D: (XD) There are peer-reviewed journals and published books about this stuff, but this paper doesn't feel like a grad-level anthro final. It feels like a "what I did over my summer vacation" essay, or an especially self-indulgent LJ post. I've some interview questions for you guys, 'cos it's not everyday that the subject of my paper topic is but a flist away! Answer one, some, or all; I'd be happy with whatever. ( OUR FANDOMS, OURSELVES: 5 questions about your fannish experience )Non-interviewy questions-- a) What is that article about Merlin when it was new, in which Colin and Bradley were surprised/chuffed that the show was so embraced by the gay community? b) Do you guys have links to the Merlin producers/publicists blatantly shipping Bradley/Colin, even if just for the slash fans' benefit? This is somewhat belated, I suppose, and I probably should've written it straight after the concerts so I didn't forget things, but I've been on an Arashi high ever since and therefore not really all that coherent, so it was probably better to wait. XP I'll do a post about my trip as a whole later, but for people who don't really care about that and want to hear about Arashi, I'll just post the con report for now. So, it all started one sunny winter's day in Tokyo, when two girls came to realise that dreams really can come true... ( Friday, December 4 - pre-concert stuff )( Friday, December 4 - actual concert )Of course, the next day we went straight out and bought tickets for the Sunday night. XP ( Sunday, December 6 )After the concert, we met up with oviparous and went and had coffee, which was also the perfect ending, as she's like the sweetest person ever. <33333 And anyway, so now I'm left with this feeling that's sort of like if it's possible to achieve this dream, then maybe you can achieve any dream if you work hard enough, and that I shouldn't get brought down by stupid things, because there's something bigger and better out there.
